The application for professionalisation

The Chairman had a meeting with the Board of Psychology of the Health Professions Council of South Africa on 30 April 2009. He was accompanied by Dr Leon Klein from the National Counselling Centre Development Ministry in Bryanston, Johannesburg, as well as Peniel Letsoalo from the Rhema Church Bible School. Both are trained and experienced counsellors.

The professionalisation of pastoral and spiritual care

As you may be aware, SAAP is in the process of investigating the professionalisation of the profession.

Included in this edition of SAAP Notes are two documents on this issue. One is a summary of a proposed SAAP presentation prepared for the Minister of Health and the second is an article published by Dr Jan de Jong van Arkel on the main issues concerning professionalisation. These two documents were also used in a presentation by the Chairperson at the Annual General Meeting of the Society for Practical Theology at Unisa in January 2008.
